[edit] 1 Data transfer costs
The table below shows the internet costs for Zain and MTN on mobile phones. The basic rate for pay as you go with no bundles and in bundles. bundles are in MB(mega bytes)they are just two 15MB and 100MB with different costs. The costs are p/MB(per mega bytes) as you can see in the table. The costs are converted to Zambian kwacha (ZMK), United States dollars (USD) and British pounds (GBP).

For further comparison, the cost of an MMS message is k622. (We should compare this to sending an equivalent picture by email - if the picture is small, it might only be 50-100k).

The exchange rates are from Zambian kwacha (ZMK) to British pounds (GBP) and United States Dollars (USD) The current currency exchange rates can be looked up on the internet sites http://www.coinmill.com or http://www.xe.com

The amount of data transfer on the bundle is limited, and so it's important to know how much you have used up. If you are using Zain, you have to send a text message to 4428,

MTN has mobile internet, and pay as you go access is cheaper (Access is on a pay-per-use basis: K999.00/MB). (Only the 100MB Zain bundle is cheaper.)
